i moved to abbey a year ago and all in all i think they're one of the better banks to deal with. overall i am very happy but there have been some bumps in the road. after going to the branch with ID they said was acceptable after a couple of weeks they stopped my debit card without warning because the bank manager wanted to see my work ID. after that my card was back on. then one month they said i should have the visa debt card and not the electron card because i earned over £20kpa. the 'system said no' so i was asked to call telephone banking a month later. this merry go round went on for six months until one bank manager said it was a waste of time asking and that after six months it would just happen automatically. wasted phone calls then. today i changed my current account to a student account ready for university (again) and the manager was a star. overdraf, new card and everything ordered in what was literally seconds. nice one. they try very hard to help but because of the change over with spanish ownership some staff tell you to do something and then a while later you realise that the bank has changed a policy or a working practice. but overall excellent
