Abbey has to be the worse bank in the UK. I have been with them for 20 years and fiannly I am free of them. I tried to bank 25 bags of £1 coins and was told that only 5 bags per day. When I questioned this with the manager, he actually said 'we are not a bank you know'!!!. Last week I telephoned the call centre to cancel 2 direct debits. She wouldn't do it as I did not satisfactorily answer her questions. So I went to my local branch and they said they could not do it in store and that I had to phone in. I got one of their staff to phone and she held on for 20 minutes. When eventually I spoke to someone, I was told that they could not do it over the phone and to go to my local branch!!! Needless to say, I have now closed my account - they are amateurs compared to the 'proper' banks.
