problems with DD the Abbey (Abbey National)

I had a DD set up for a Personal Loan, which I have had for years, in October they set up another ending in different digits. So I cancelled the new one, as I was worried two payments would come out. When my DD
was due to come out nothing happened, I called them they blamed my bank, then my bank blamed them? then they said the original had been cancelled??? confused. Then they took two payments.
It was actually the abbey's fault as they had a problem with their system, to this date every month a new DD is set up, I now have 5!, I have been told that only one is set up and not to worry only one payment will come out, yes I know. Their answer, they still have a IT problem with their system, and not to worry, my question to them was, surely you can stop setting these up, their answer, there is nothing we can do about it, I said I wanted to make a complaint, their answer what for!
