The problem with some reviews on banks is that they reflect the branch that you deal with which whilst honest, doesn't reflect the company's ethos. My branch experience was poor- being given the wrong advice and staff not being able to work out percentages But in this case I am reporting on Abbey's customers services. I have never experienced waiting such an age to get a response and worse still once you have been held in the queue for just under three quarters of an hour you get cut off and have to start all over again. This, to me shows a complete disregard for their customers. Not least because when I got thru, my experience wasn't good. In the end I withdrew all my funds from Abbey as even if they had been paying twice as much interest as anyone else- the stress their inefficiency causes simply isn't worth it. I doubt I will ever open another account there, but I hope to later hear that their re-branding as Santander has made a difference. It needs to.
