No words to describe the bad service the Abbey gives! (Abbey National)

Advantages: None as yet Disadvantages: Lack of communication, complaints process slow, no managers available to discuss matters.
I only opened my account 4 months ago but in that time they have already proved how incompetant they are and that the communication between departments is dire. I used the switch service to transfer my DD from another account. They made complete hash of this, ending up with direct debits going twice and taking days for the Abbey to get them returned etc etc. Not only this but they opened me a interest free overdraft account with no overdraft on it which not only should be part of the switcher service but part of the account that I opened. I made an official complaint in March and last week my patience ran out so I email again, they said sorry they will look into it, they did recieve the complaint in march but it must have been overlooked. They proceeded to ask for up to 4 weeks to investigate the complaint! The last straw is that my statement arrived this morning and there is £250 of charges due to go next week that until this point I was unaware of but guess what?! These charges are for unarranged overdraft fee's!! I have an overdraft account with no overdraft and yet they can still charge me a fortune for going a little over my limit (Im talking £5 or £10 not hundreds). The branch tells me it was all setup wrong and that I really need to open another account to make it right and the complaints department just cant seem to bring themselves to even bother looking at my complaints. Summary: Poor communication, complaints process slow, impersonal service |
