I have been a customer of Abbey National for many years now and am happy to say that I think that they are great. I have a current account with them which has a lot of direct debits and standing orders going out of each month and they have never messed them up once. I always get my new cheque book in plenty of time before I need it. The staff in the branches are always very pleasant whenever I have to go to the counter but admittedly I mostly use the ATM, Internet and telephone banking service, all of which are also good. Before many banks ATMs were able to take deposits Abbey were already doing it and I often use this service, again with no problem. I recently had a problem with a cheque that I had written being presented before the funds were in the account to cover it. As this was the only time that I had ever done this Abbey National cancelled the charge that they were going to make – that was good of them. I always have an overdraft on my account at the end of the month which is agreed with them and the charge that they make for it is in proportion to others out there, they also regularly review and update this as required. I would recommend Abbey National to anyone.
