Advantages: Fast to update and very secure
Disadvantages: n/a
I run an internet cafe above the local branch of abbey national where I also hold an account. I have found that the 'e banking' service they provide is one of the best i have seen yet. The service allows you to check your balance, move funds, print statements <in a printer/ink friendly format> and muich much more. The information is instantly updated. I checked my balance from my shop, went downstairs to the atm <cashpoint> took out £50 came back upstairs, checked my account again and it was shown straight away that i had just withdrawn funds. I have waited for a cheque to clear on many occasions and I know that as soon as the funds are available i will be able to see it online immidiatley. i have used many other interrnet banking services and found them to be slow to update and often fiddly to use or else not secure enough. To log into your account you need to click the type of card you hold then type the rest of the card number, then you need a password followed by a code number. making it virtually impossible for other people to 'guess' your log in details. It is all in all an excellent service which is being improved all the time. Apparently abbey national would like all of its branches to have internet access for its customers either on or nearby the premises. I am about to offer special rates for abbey national customers who use my cybercafe for their internet banking service. My father also uses the service and many other banks similar services and i think he too prefers the abbey national one. Good work guys I look forward to seeing more features soon.

- 06/12/00 I am sorry that you had problems with this.
Abbey national supplies you with a credit or debit card which is the number you must input 1st, then they ask you for your text password, then it asks for your numerical passcode. If this does not work you can call the telephone banking service for assistance.
Your problems may have been a temporary fault and it may be worth returning.
The technical help from abbey national is rather high quality <in my experience> but if you still have no joy with it then by all means email me <address in profile> and I shall endeavour to help you myself.

- 06/12/00 Hello did I miss something here??? I registered for the Abbey's e-banking, being a very busy person myself! I got their letters and passwords e.t.c, and tried to log on. Now normally I'm pretty good at finding myself around on sites and things, but I found this impossible to access....It kept telling me to register, but I had already done this, then it asked me for my password, which it would'nt accept, and you mentioned cards?????? Sorry but I could'nt get past the first screen, I found this most annoying. |
