Advantages: none

Disadvantages: not a saving account at all

7 years ago I opened an instant saver with Abbey national, as a means of saving for large items of expenditure. At the time this was the best rate on the market however over time the rate has drifted down so that now it is a pathetic 0.5% - my savings were actually becoming less valuble since inflation was greater than this rate.
I am unaware of Abbey National informing me of the rate changes, as a greedy corporate entity they were just satisfied with giving me an atrocious deal and only by reading the financial press did I discover this state of affairs

Be warned - Abbey National are out to help themselves - NOT you.

Short and too the point! I closed my Instant No Saver two weeks ago and reinvested some in the Flexi Saver and opened a Mini Cash ISA (tax free) with the Britannia! Rate 6.85%!

Oh dear me...Ive got one of these accounts. It hasnt got a lot in it but that is pathetic interest rate especially when I think how much they are charging me on my mortgage!
