I had an account with Abbey, but closed it last year as I was not using it enough. I have since opened a joint account with my partner.

Staff in Abbey branches make you feel valued as a customer. Many other banks will ask you to make appointments to open accounts with them, my advice here is to just walk away, go and see Abbey. They don't insist on seeing bank statements etc, they ask for some ID as a standard procedure, then look at your credit history and tell you what they can offer you.

As I had previously had an account with Abbey, and the girl who set up the account knew me from when she worked at another branch, even though I didn't remember her, the procedure of setting an acount up again was much easier.

Abbey have alot of services to offer customers, yes they are a little high like most other banks on fines, but their service is great.

Give Abbey a go.
