Good basic bank (Abbey National)

Advantages: Good relationship with manager

Disadvantages: not always competitive

My husband was with the Abbey National when we got married ten years ago, and so we opened our joing account with them. We have been with them ever since, have our main current account with them, and also our mortgage.
We stay with them because we know the bank manager now after all this time, we trust him, and know he does his best for us. He helped us extend our mortgage, and we have an incredibly generous overdraft facility.
I'm not sure how competitive they are for savings and credit cards at the moment. I have a feeling that they arent too bad, but all of our savings, credit cards etc are elsewhere. There are a lot of good accounts coming out which we take advantage of, but for the security and back up of someone we know and trust, I think we will always stick with the Abbey National as well
