Advantages: Efficient, Good facilities, Phone and Internet banking as well as standard over the counter services

Disadvantages: Not very good interest rates on savings accounts

I have been banking with Abbey National for at least 15 years and have had no reason to complain about them. Whenever I go into a branch I find the staff very helpful. I have a lot of standing orders and direct debits and have never had any problems with them, they have always been paid on time.

I use Abbey National for my current account but place my savings elsewhere as they do not offer a very good interest rate.

They offer a phone banking system which is good as it allows you to check balances, pay bills, change direct debits etc over the phone.

They have recently offered internet banking and I use this regularly, it is especially good for getting statements as and when you need them without having to phone or go into a branch or cash machine.

The branches are all very pleasant and most have cash machines inside as well as out if you are concerned with safety.

Like most other banks they offer all sorts of facilities such as mortgages, insurance, ISAs etc etc but I have never tried these. However if they are anything like their current accounts I am sure that they must be OK.

As banks go I would say that Abbey National appear to be very good.
