Advantages: 24 hours, secure and user friendly

Disadvantages: slow loading!


Myself and my husband have banked with Abbeynational since we got together 9 years ago and have had no reason to complain at all. We have had help and advice when choosing our mortgage and excellent caring advice when we had our first child and money was tight.

I am now pleased to say that they have excelled in the fact that they have introduced their e-banking! It allows us to check our balances, make changes to direct debits, print our own statements and request increase/decrease in overdraft facilities securely, online and 24 hours a day without those long winded telephone calls where you are left on hold listening to very sleepy classical music!

This facility has been a godsend for us as we both leave busy lives and sometimes find it difficult to find time in the day to visit our bank whereas now we can put the kids to bed and quietly check our account in peace!

The website has a downside in that is it sometimes extremely slow in loading pages but other than that I have not been able to fault it so far. I would strongly recommend all Abbey customers with a use of a pc to sign up for this free service as in todays busy world this facilty can just make life seem a touch easier.

The problem with the AN site as it is now is that the servers are seriously overloaded, which means that it can be slow to load or fail altogether. This is all being worked on and should get better in Nov 2002 with the redesigned site and new servers to make it all work much more efficiently. (and yes, e-mail banking is something that Abbey do not yet offer, I think you mean e-banking or online banking)

I agree with you on the facility - it excellent when it works! The site can be slow though, can't it?

Just a point - change your title to internet banking, or web banking - as e-mail banking is just plain wrong!
Unless of course you're using some new un-documented feature?
