Switched -no hassle (Alliance & Leicester)

Disadvantages: none...so far!

I recently switched from Nationwide to Alliance and Leicester, this was partly because of a bad experience one of my collegues has had with Nationwide ( a whole other story!) and partly because of the generous offer of quidco cashback of £50 (of course, 2 weeks after i switched A&L started offering £100 cash to new customers but there you go-thats sods law!)
The Alliance and leicester premier current account offers 8% credit interest for the first year which is a lot higher than most banks. You must have a reasonable credit history and pay a minimum of £500 in each month to be accepted for this account.
The switchover was very smooth, my employers were contacted with my new details so my wages went into my account with no hassle and all my direct debits were changed with no problems at all. I only had to phone once when i hadnt recieved my internet sign on number but the phone was answered quickly and it turned up a couple of days later.
I have now been banking with them for 4 months and so far it's a trouble free relationship...but i'll keep you posted!

Summary: A good current account with good interest at least for a year
