Advantages: Free benefits, pleasant staff

Disadvantages: Difficulty starting online banking

We recently opened an Alliance & Leicester Premier current account. We opted for a transfer service from our existing bank to Alliance and Leicester, and so far its been very successful. The online application was simple to complete, and within 6 hours we had an email confirming the account was approved. The account has no monthly fee and yet provides some benefits including travel insurance. The account can be managed either in branch, with your card or by telephone or online banking.

The staff are all very helpful, and communication is clear and concise and received quickly.

Our only gripe has been that at the moment we are unable to access our online banking because they have sent out two internet pin numbers, neither of which has worked. There is a reason for this, but they failed to tell us that certain actions would invalidate the pin numbers prior to us trying to use them.

Overall it appears a good account, free from monthly fees and the staff are as helpful as bank staff can be!
