Advantages: User friendly
Disadvantages: None encountered so far
I opened my alliance and leicester cashcard account for under 18s 7 months ago. The account opening process was very straightforward and easy to understand even for a first bank account. I was attracted by the healthy tiered rates of interest upto 3.75% gross per year. When I turned 16 they sent a letter congratulating me and giving me my new Visa Electron online Debit card which I can use to buy goods in shops upto the balance in my account. What I like most about this is that I can make payments to my account at post offices which is useul. I have set up telephone banking with them which is very simple to use - you just choose a password and use your phone to type your accont number in. You can check your balance, uncleared credits/debits and order statements. You can also do all of these things with their online banking service which is very user friendly and easy to set up. I can honestly say that I have encountered no problems at all in running the account and the times I have phoned up to setup telephone and internet banking I have always got through first time to a customer adviser and they were polite and efficient in dealing with my requests. You can also get a cheque book when you have £100 per week going into your account. I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend their account to even the most demanding customer. Congratulations to Alliance & Leicester!
