I've been with the Bank of Scotland for about 12 years now and I have never found cause to complain. Wherever I go in Scotland there seems to be a nearby branch where I can pop in if I have any concerns and the service I recieve from the staff has never disappointed me. The online banking service is a gem, showing me all my ... Read the complete review

I have banked with B.O.S. for 28 years. I dont understand what other people are complaining about. I have never had any problems in any of the branches i have visited. My main branch is Galashiels, the staff there are the most friendly, helpfull people you could wish to deal with. If the branch is busy, they are always full of apologies ... I have been with Bank of Scotland for the last 12 odd years since I opened my first bank account. For some reason I have never changed banks as it seems like so mush hassle but I do think it is something I will do in the future. All banks, in my opinion, are pretty much the same - governed by greedy fatcats who look to get as ... Read the complete review

I do not recommend anyone becoming a banking customer of this awful bank! I always banked with RBS and when i hit 18 i decided to try another bank. I went to HBOS and was offered an account with a debit card and £1000 overdraft. I was really stupid at the time and spent the money then repaid it all and asked them to cancel ... Thank god they have online banking! My life has been a lot easier since I eventually managed to get my online banking set up. This did take 3 requests for user names and passwords and in the end I had to go into the branch on George Street to get the details. In all fairness, the staff in the branch were helpful and I was dealt with ... Read the complete review

I feel very saddned to have to be writing this review on the Bank of Scotland, especially one with hardly any positive points. Before I start, I would like to mention the excellent service I have experienced in the Edinburgh branch, the staff are attentive and very welcoming on every one of my visits. Now for the ... Most of the banks in the United Kingdom particularly have not had it easy especially for the past one year. Bank of Scotland is no exception and being part of an institution which has more or less contributed to the credit crunch, it is no wonder that they are not looked upon very favourably. I have been banking with Bank of ... Read the complete review

The Bank of Scotland has a long history, having originally been formed in 1695 and for many years had its imposing head office on the Mound in Edinburgh - a branch I used to love to visit on occasional trips to the city in my youth. Of course the credit crunch has seriously weakened the bank. It merged with Halifax in 2001, ... Read the complete review

The Bank of Scotland (BoS) is one of the oldest banks in the United Kingdom, its beginnings being traceable back to the 17th century. The bank was created by an Act of the Scottish Parliament and was the first bank in Europe to issue banknotes, and still does to this day. In 2001 BoS merged with Halifax to create HBOS, one of ... You will get value for money from this review because technically I am writing about 2 Bank of Scotland products in this one review. First I will start with the good bits. This has been the only bank i've used. I've been banking with this bank for about 12 years and although when I first joined and I was putting ... Read the complete review

I have a branch near me so it's very convenient for me to pop in for whatever I need. Sometimes there's a queue, but I don't mind. I'm not the most patient person in the world but I don't go on a tirade about queues in the branch. Plus, someone comes around and apologises for the wait which is nice. Not looking for an apology, but it's still nice. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. Not had any trouble transferring money from an account to another before closure. I have internet banking as well and check it often, so I feel more confident and in the know. I like faster payments instead of BACS dark ages system.

I want to write a positive review of my dealings with the Bank of Scotland but unfortunately they have ripped me off. My relationship with them started before I was born, my grandad was a manager for the BoS so it was the default banking choice for all the family. The RBS incorrectly sent forwarded money to an incorrect account and then when AP transaction was short by 20p as a result of their error I was charged 35 pounds! As you could imagine I was livid, whilst they acknowledged the error they refused to refund me their horrendous charge! Daylight robbery. They will never have my business again.

Known as a 'First Cheque' account, this is basically the Bank Of Scotland's account for 16-17 yr olds. It offers good rates of interest, a cheque book and a debit card. The debit card is a Solo card. I was with the Bank of Scotland for 1 year - my first year at University.(1995) I don-t remember what made me choose them initially - probably because some of my friends were. Who'd have ever though a devout Anglophile such as myself would ever even consider the sacriligous act of joining a foreign bank. English money should stay in English hands!
