I would recommend Barclays to anyone (Barclays Bank)

Advantages: Excellent service and security consious

Disadvantages: I didn't start banking with them sooner

After having a nightmare of a time whilst banking with a Barclays competitor I finally had enough and changed. I think I choose a bad time to switch banks as it was right in the middle of the 'credit crunch' I had no idea who to choose as everyone seemed to be crying out for customers.
Anyway after lots of internet browsing and a little bit of research my mind was set on Barclays. I went into my local branch where all of the staff members were incredibly helpful, they actually sit down and spend as much time as needed with you, rather than been rushed in and out. I felt like they actually cared about me been a customer rather than been another number walking through the door. Any queries or questions they are more than happy to help! 10 out of 10 for branch.
After a sucessfull and very fast application process my card and account details all arrived within five working days, not sure if this is the norm however this exceeded my expectations.
Barclays do seem to be very security consious! To be able to access the online banking service you need a PINsentry machine. At first I found this a bit of a nightmare, the machine itself is easy to use as all instructions come up on the screen step by step. It is a little frustrating however when you don't have this machine with you and you are wanting to get online and transfer some money for example. However this isn't something I can bad mouth as such, as I have previously been a victim of online fraud it does mean alot to me that Barclays would invest in this extra bit of security to protect my money. The online system is very very easy to use, I easily opened a saving account with minutes, and transfering money to accounts couldn't be easier. 10 out of 10 for the online system!
I have been with Barclays nearly six months now and I know in reviews you are supposed to point out the bad parts also but so far I have none to comment on! I would definately recommend Barclays to anyone who is wanting to switch accounts and wanting to manage their money with ease.
