Ah Barclays, one of the biggest banks in the UK. There are branches in most town centres within the country and I suppose my local one is a typical example of how barclays operate. There are cash machines on the outside of the building as well as a couple on the inside. They have also introduced new machines quite recently which you can use to ... Read the complete review

If you are in business give this bank a miss. They have just doubled the interest on business accounts even though the Government asked them to help small businesses. if you go even 10p over you agree overdraft they will bounce a cheque even if they can see large amounts of cash going into your account but not yet cleared. how can you run a business with this bank.
BARCLAYS ARE A RIP OFF.

Warning this will be a positive review about a bank I feel truly deserves a mention. I will not rant about how I have been ripped off with an unfair charge for going overdrawn or that I didn't get the interest I had expected. I've had a Barclays' CONNECT debit card for perhaps 20 years. I noticed whilst checking online one of my CONNECT debit card statements recently a transaction had been erroneously charged twice to my card. I copied the transaction details to emails and sent one to Amneus Boghandel in Roros, Norway who'd charged me twice (their reply to my email ... Read the complete review

Of all the banks I have used Barclays seems to have the fairest charging policy, but at the same time a large amount of incompetence... let me explain. So, on the search for an alternative destination for my PayPal funds I went into my local branch to open an account. I was told that they guaranteed to 'match' any account I had, ... I have been with Barclays bank for over 20 years and had always found them to be satisfactory, although I can't say that they go that extra mile, which I believe you do want when you are placing your money in there care. I used the branch in rugby and the ques were always long, the bank always busy, but they never seemed to have enough staff, and ... Read the complete review

I recently opened a Barclays bank account and found the whole experience was hassle-free, quick and dealt with efficiently. From the second I walked through the door I was acknowledged and directed to the right area to handle my enquiry. The level of customer service like none other I have experienced in the banking industry. All my questions were ... Read the complete review

I have probably been blinkered for far too long as I have only ever been with Barclays and now I feel trapped with them. Over the years my overdraft limit has been increased and it is just too easy to use it and very hard to get back into the black again. If you go over your limit you are charged, think the last time I did was £25, ... Read the complete review

I have to say Barclays bank have to be the worst bank I have ever dealt with. All they seem to want to do is charge you left right and centre, and when ever I have dealt with them over the telephone I have been spoken to with no respect, they have been rude and have noi manners. Also my work use to bank with Barclays but they have also changed banks along with my self and also friends/family as they have had the same experience as me. I would advise to stay away from Barclays, and use another high street bank They are useless. Trust me do not ever go over your overdraft they charge £35.00 PER DAY. Money Grabber!!!

I had decided to open an account with Barclays for the convenience of being able to pay money in at Barclays branches for occasions when none of my other banks' branches are nearby. This is important to me because I do receive a lot of cheques and Internet banking just doesn't help. OPENING AN ACCOUNT I took ID, credit and ... Read the complete review

I'm currently happy with the service from Barclays. Barclays Premier Life
I opened an account with Barclays as a new customer on 23rd June 2008. I was offered a Premier Life Current Account and was offered a range of additional services such as dedicated call centre, Concierge, Airport lounge access, RAC membership and insurance if I agreed to pay a monthly fee. I agreed to this.
It is now 16th July, I am still yet to receive my debit card, I am unable to use my account, I have been given excluse after excuse from Barclays, my relationship manager is nowhere to be seen. They are blaming their Premier card suppliers. They are also refusing to refund this months fee despite me not being able to access my account.
I am very unhappy with the level of service, considering this account is their so called "best account available". 1/10.

I have never banked with Barclays in my life. I wanted to open an ISA account with Barclays for myself and my wife, obviously because of good tax-free interest rate we were being offered.
