Disadvantages: Hard to acces without photographic memory

I too have banked with Barclays for many years. When they developped their online service I thought it would suit me better as I am disabled and dont go out much.

I registered in the bank and waited ..it took some time for my membership number to arrive ... a 12 digit number...then 10 days for my passcode ...a 5 digit number.

The service is indeed very good I can move money around and the payment of bills is excellent....you only need enter the name of the company you want to pay and it searches the banking details for you. The responce to queries is very good and the service suits me better thatn I could have hoped.

So whats the problem??? well I can cope with learning a 5 digit number but a 12 ??? not a chance. The accompanying letter tells you to destroy the letters when you have memorised the numbers some hope .

I would have thought there would be an easier way to access your accounts securely. I also bank online with the Halifax and although nowhere near as good a service as Barclays for that I chose a username and a password all they add is a changing security question and I am in.

I would like to be able to access my account when away from home but cannot risk taking the numbers with me very annoying

I find the colours on the site a bit intimidating - probably just me! Sue :)

I am with Barclays online, i feel exactly the same way, i have to carry the numbers around in locked PDA so that i can access my account away from home.

Sounds like the ideal way to bank then for you, but could do with a bit more thought!
