VERY easy and straight-forward process (Co-operative Bank)

Advantages: Simple, understandable, polite staff and extremely quick set up

Disadvantages: Wouldn't accept me for a full account, but more my fault!

I set up a Cashminder account with the Co-op last week, and so far is so good! I know I may not have had the time to compile a proper list of experiences with them, but so far I've not had such an easy and pleasing time with a bank, ever.

Firstly, opening the account was a breeze. I rang, and after a 15 minute call everything was done and my details/card were on their way. A savings account was also set up instantly too.

I received my account numbers and debit card within 3 days of that call - yes, that's correct! In the past with other banks, I've waited nearly two weeks to have access. There was no messing around, and the documentation provided detailed their ethos and ethical policies delightfully.

Internet Banking is my main form of banking, and all it took was a 1 minute phone call after receiving my account details, and access was granted! I literally logged on 30 seconds after hanging up the phone, and could play around. Again in the past, I've had excuses of "taking 3 hours to allow access" - as a techie, I could never see a reason for a delay. It seems the Co-op agree!

Everything with my account is so much more straight-forward than previous experiences. Nothing confuses me. A simple way to get money paid in, paid out through Direct Debits, and spent with a card and at ATMs. No hassle or unnecessary additions - I'm in financial heaven! (Apart from the having no money part...!).

Staff were unbelievably polite, and fully accommodated my habit of jokes and banter whilst talking to call centres. UK call centres are also a big plus!

All in all, so far, a wonderful experience. I've joined the Co-op membership too, and hope to reap some rewards through there..!

Summary: If you 'd rather your bank not add to your problems, go Co-op!
