Advantages: Some are very well set out
Disadvantages: Not as secure?
I have use two major banks for online banking.
The first is Nationwide. I find the site really easy to use, and the passwords and all the codes you need to be secure. I remember all my passwords very easily, they arent written down but I do logon everyday.
You can also apply for bank accounts, or credit cards online. I found that applying for a credit card was quick and easy. I got the card within a few days and the pin a few days later. They also have a quick response to emails from your online banking which is useful.
Natwest is the other one. Their site is not as easy to use, and a lot of the print is very small so its easy to miss things.
To logon is secure with passwords and codes. I think they could do with updating the way that your bank account is presented, as its very simple and not as good as the nationwide version.
Once I leave uni I think I will get rid of my natwest account as I find the nationwide online a lot easier to use, and the customer service facilities to make a complaint is much simpler.
I have also viewed the egg online banking. It seems very simple to apply for both a bank account and a credit card, although to me it seems strange not having a branch that you can go to if theres a major problem that cant be solved over the phone.
Summary: I find nationwide the best

- 26/03/09 The whole online banking saga to me has been rather bewildering. I've been involved with online merchants for over seven years, and yet have I witnessed 100% security measures. The system enables fraudsters to legitimately transfer illegal cash. Outages are not re-enforced to protect consumers but only there to protect banking servers; with the advancement of MT it has got very easy for fraudulent activity to digress further. |
