Advantages: good savings
Disadvantages: good design
Egg has had a lot of bad press recently, however I have had no problems with the Internet banking service since I joined it last year. I opted for the Internet only account, which pays higher rates in return for you carrying out all of your transactions online, you can also have a standard account which pays less interest but allows telephone banking, and a cashcard options which pays the least interest. The interest rate is one of the best, and the service is not at all bad. It is easy to transfer money electronically from other accounts once you have set the service up and if you need to withdraw from the account it arrives cleared in your chosen conventional bank account within 3 working days. There is also a handy shopping zone on the egg website, with links to retailers and some bargains in the special offer section. Egg is definately worth considering if you are happy to do your banking online and want a better interest rate for doing

- 12/09/01 Your figure of 6.3% for the interest rate is wrong - it's certainly below this level now. Could I suggest that you edit your op to put in the correct figure or remove the reference to the interest rate altogether?

- 12/09/01 I think you'll find the rate is less than 6.3% on a normal internet Egg savings a/c now. I've had an a/c with them for ages, no problems at all - Kay |
