First Direct Bank

Newest Review: ... and the training that they must receive. If they are not already doing it, First Direct need to set up their own customer service training academy and sell their skills to other organisations. When they say they will do something they do it. When you order a new service or loan, forms appear in the post already completed for you to sign (sure, you must check them, but how easy!) and their on line banking service is something to behold. I honestly do not work for them so sorry if I am sounding a bit evangelical here, but I do recommend them to everyone I talk to about banks - surely for a business to have this effect on it's customers... more

I have been with First Direct for about 20 years, or at least since they started. In short they are flippin' brilliant. I can honestly say I have never ever experienced an error, fault, or problem with them and I have my mortgage and many other products with them. One thing that really consistently impresses me is the customer service their staff offer and the training that they must receive. If they are not already doing it, First Direct need to set up their own customer service training academy and sell their skills to other organisations. When they say they will do something they do it. When you order a new service or loan, forms ...  Read the complete review

I recently moved my current account to First Direct and so far have had an excellent experience. I would thoroughly recomend this bank if you are thinking if switching. The move itself was very quick and straightforward with all my direct debits and standing orders moving without a hitch. They even to the time to call me after a month and discussed those accounts which had not updated, all of which were either inactive or due to an error with my supplier. They gave me a form to send to my employer payroll department and again this work liked a dream. While I cannot say how this would compare with other banks, as I was with my last one for over 10 years, I ...  Read the complete review

First Direct: What's not to like?! (337 words)

I joined first direct when they were offering a £125 joining incentive (through money supermarket). The usual incentive is £100 which is not to be sniffed at! Switching went very smoothly and they kept me informed every step of the way. The £100 incentive was paid pretty quickly (less than 6 weeks if I remember correctly) unlike coop for example who took about 5 months to pay their joining incentive! First direct also have a referral scheme whereby if you refer someone you get £50 and they still get their joining incentive - I referred my partner and the money was paid very quickly! When you have a First Direct current account, you are entitled ...  Read the complete review

If Carlsberg did banks, it would be First Direct (340 words)

Having decided to change bank accounts a few months ago I thought I would take up First Direct's offer of £100 for switching my current account to them. Having changed banks in the past I was wary of Direct Debits going wrong but I need not have been concerned as it was a smooth transition. I applied for the account online at firstdirect.com and a couple of days later I received a welcome pack informing me of the process, as well as a form to send to my employer to transfer payment of my salary. Once I had signed and returned the form they were able to contact my old bank and then send me a list of standing orders and direct debits, I was then able to decide ...  Read the complete review

I've been with First Direct for about 7 years now. I started banking with them when I finished Uni and have never thought about changing since. The best bit i sthe online banking, I never need to go to a branch and hardly ever need to call customer services. I do all my banking online, its just so convenient. Its so secure and easy to transfer money, pay bills, check balances etc. On the rare occasion thet I do need to call customer services I have found them extremely helpful and pleasant. They quickly and efficiently deal with my querries which shows excellent customer service. The wait on the line is also very short which is not something you get with many ...  Read the complete review
