I have held a Halifax current account for just over a year now having always been with Nationwide. I was always happy with my previous account but needed a bank which had a local branch in order to pay in cheques after work. When i moved i really had my eyes opened. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. When i opened my account the bank manager spoke with me about the various options, something i thought was a really nice touch. (so few banks offer face to face advice) its also nice not to have to speak to someone in india about replacing a card or increasing overdrafts.
i currently have an esavings account and use the online banking facility which i think is brilliant and very secure. When i had finished uni and began paying in a couple of hundred pounds a month the lady behind the counter gave me a leaflet about a new account and told me that i would get more interest if i switched. She was, once again, so friendly an helpful - unlike some bank tellers!

Overall i really like halifax and find them very approachable and they really do offer a good range of accounts whatever your needs. i would advise you to visit your local branch and chat through the various options with the manager. You wont be dissappointed.
