Halifax - Watch Out for the Charges (Halifax)

Advantages: Easy to maintain current account

Hi i've been banking with halifax for around 2 years now. There current account which i'm talking about now gives higher interest rates if more than £1000 is paid in per month.

I haven't had any real problems with this account with wages being paid in smoothly each week and overdraft interest fees being minimal.

The debit card you get with the account is a VISA which can be used anywhere and a £200 overdraft seems to come as standard. In branch service is very good as is their phone service as individual direct branch numbers are listed in the phonebook.

Unfortunately as with any bank when they charge you they hit you hard. £35 returned item fee and £25 unauthorised overdraft fee. However i've found going into branch and causing a scene about unjust their charges are you usually get them cancelled.

All round a fair enough banking experiance as long as your very careful not to exceed your arranged overdraft.

Summary: Fair all round banking experiance although charges are to high.
