Happy with Halifax (Halifax)

Advantages: Easy to use online banking, friendly staff, good for students

Disadvantages: Hefty bank charges for being overdrawn

I have been banking with the Halifax bank since 2001. I currently have an ISA account, Web saver account and a current account.

I opened a student current account as it offered a good service for students. I was given a large interest free over draft (which was reviewed and if neccesary increased on a yearly basis), up to £3000, a cheque book and a visa debit card (which is excepted world wide).

Not much has changed from my current account opening and i still have all the benefits of the student account.

All my accounts are paperless and i do all my banking on line. The online banking service is excellent, it is really easy to use and you can do almost any thing you need online, from setting up standing orders to mortgage applications. If you cannot get sorted on the web you can always phone general enquiries and the telephone staff are always really helpful, quick and efficient. Additionally, you can go into a branch where staff are just as helpful.

My only problem with Halifax is that over the years (as a student) i was charged over £1000 in charges for being over drawn and at times by only a few pence.

I am on a whole though very happy with the service from Halifax and at the present time have no intention of changing to a different bank.
