Halifax have disgusting customer service!

I have had an account with halifax for going on 20 yrs, mortgage 5yrs and loan 2 and half years, I recently asked for extra advance on my mortgage to be paid back over 5 yrs, passed with flying colours and recommendation, after waiting 2 weeks with little to no contact and being a whisker away from money going in the bank (advisor asked which account i wanted it in!) they decline me.
After much waiting they told me it was because of a missed payment to my catalogue in December. I appealed as the payment was for £8.40 paid 3 days late after realising my error, only owed the catalogue £42 and I had nearly £500.00 in my halifax account at the time proving it was an oversight and they still turned my down, I have an impeccable credit rating and pay everything and I pay to equifax each month for regular updates on my credit file.
I am smelling a rat as I took the halifax to the ombudsman over something unrelated in 2009. I have contacted the halifax regarding this and what I think and I am still waiting a week on for the area manager to contact me. I am disgusted with the halifax and think their customer service stinks. We first applied for this money beginning of January and have repeatedly been ignored and not had calls returned, the branch advisor never returns our calls and I find this all disgusting considering the loyalty we have shown the halifax over the years having never defaulted on our mortgage or loan with them.
I get the feeling I will be paying the financial ombudsman another visit regarding the Halifax.
Summary: Dont expect them to play fair.
