Honestly, I have mixed reviews on this bank. I took an account with Halifax many years ago (5 to be precise), and the main reason for this was becuase there was a halifax bank in my local village which made it great access. But of course this closed down not long after I opened the account typical! Anyway as I was a student, I had a ... Read the complete review

Let me start this review by mentioning that I really get annoyed and irritated by banks and building society's. Last week I popped into my local Halifax branch to make a counter transaction. The lady behind the counter asked me if I was aware of the changes that are going to be happening to my account. I wasn't aware that any changes ... Read the complete review

I have been with this banking group sunce a child. Although i don't think they are the best, i very much doubt they are the worst. Like all banks, you have a choice of current accounts, savings accounts, and ISA accounts for saving. The interest rates on these again are not the best but there are worse. At the time of writing this ... Read the complete review

I opened a pretty good account with Halifax, pre-Credit Crunch, and was generally quite pleased with the account. I liked the fact my statements came every 3 months rather than 30 days, seeing as I usually am aware of the activity in my bank accounts. At the time it was a high interest account, which means that so long as I paid in a certain ... Read the complete review

Halifax is one of the largest banks in UK. It used to be one of the biggest building societies which "demutualized" in the ninenties. I have held an account with them since 1993. I currently have 2 saving account, one joint with my brother, an Isa, their credit card, and various types of "high saving ... Read the complete review

Rubbish - charged me £85 for being overdrawn by £15. Started with a great current account offer with 1% cas back which was then changed to £5 per month. This meant earning £40 less per year through the account.
£1 per day for being overdrawn by £15 really cost me a lot of money, when calling customer services to sort this out was spoken to in a very rude manner.
Would not use again, since being taken over they seem to have really dropped standards

I've banked with Halifax from a very young age as my parents opened a Liquid Gold savings account when Halifax were still a building society, although I'd moved over to HSBC when I turned 16 and then to Natwest when I started working at age 22 after university. Now, I've gone back to them as they've been advertising their 'Reward' Current ... Read the complete review

Halifax are a well known high street bank offering a range of services including mortgages, savings accounts, isas and insurance products. They are part of the HBOS group which owns a large share in the UK mortgage/savings industry. Whether thats a good or bad thing Im not too sure yet. I have savings with Halifax and until recently I ... Read the complete review

I have been banking with the Halifax bank since 2001. I currently have an ISA account, Web saver account and a current account. I opened a student current account as it offered a good service for students. I was given a large interest free over draft (which was reviewed and if neccesary increased on a yearly basis), up to £3000, a ... Read the complete review

I am, in banking terms, a relatively new customer of Halifax bank having had a current account with them for two years now. I've heard the saying that people are more likely to get divorced than change their bank accounts and I do think there's a certain amount of truth in that, as most of us are guilty of apathy when it comes to our personal ... I was with the Natwest when one day I noticed my partner was getting about £6 - 7 a month in interest on her current account (this was in early 2008 when the interest rate was a lot higher), at the time I was getting about 20p a month on my current account. It turns out my partner had the high interest current account which, as was advertised on ... Read the complete review

Halifax bank what can i say not the best but probably not the worst. My wife and i have a couple of joint accounts with them our main cuurent account and another acccount that we dont really use for anything. I've had my current account with the Halifax since I was at school (which is 10+ years ago now). I opened it when the bank came to the school and gave out free things in exchange for your details, I think I got a free bag at the time... but 10+ years later and I'm still banking with them so their school ploy obviously works! Anyway, ... Read the complete review

Hi i've been banking with halifax for around 2 years now. There current account which i'm talking about now gives higher interest rates if more than £1000 is paid in per month. I haven't had any real problems with this account with wages being paid in smoothly each week and overdraft interest fees being minimal. The debit ... Read the complete review

I've been with the Bank Of Scotland for the whole time i've had a bank account. They were the closest bank to me, and now, even though they aren't the closest, I still chose to bank with them. A few years ago Bank of Scotland merged with Halifax, so it is now known as Halifax, Bank Of Scotland, or HBOS for short. So what do ... Read the complete review

I have banked with Halifax ever since I was a small child. It all started off with a passbook account which I paid birthday and christmas money into, along with any excess pocket money that I received, then as soon as I turned 16 and got a part time job, I opened up an easycash account, complete with a solo card and have never looked ... I opened an easycash account with Bank of Scotland nearly six years ago to have my salary paid in. It was just after Halifax had taken over and there were quite a few changes but I felt they treated me well and the basic account was all I needed. **My dealings with the Halifax** Reviewing a banking service was never going to be easy as you base it on your own personal experiences with them which then means you can become very biased depending on whether or not they have hacked you off through bad customer service or excessive charges. What an awful Company. My son had an account with the Halifax. After going £10.00 overdrawn last year I paid off over £128.00 and asked that the account be closed down. I have held a Halifax current account for just over a year now having always been with Nationwide.
