Simply accessing the service is atrociously painful, especially for foreigners or anyway people who cannot work out the "security questions" that the terribly accented call handlers are asking. If you don't understand the questions, you "fail security" and your account gets locked. This means that you have to go to your ... Read the complete review

I have had an account with Halifax for 3 years already. Since at the time of opening I already had a full job in UK and 2 other bank accounts, it was easy to open it. I had to provide the usual proof of address and the saving account was opened. The main reason for opening was the good interest rate they were offering for ... Read the complete review

I have been with halifax for 3 years and all of a sudden for no reason they removed my overdraft facility without informing me and due to this I ended up being overdrawn, to a small amount of £47.49p Then I received a letter stating that due to me getting overdrawn I was to be charged £38. I wrote a letter back asking that the charge be removed ... Read the complete review

My father put £2000 in to my account and paid an extra £12 to fast clear, I checked to ensure it had cleared only to be told that it was to be another week as fast track service isn't guaranteed. It stated on the reciept that the funds would be available! Now the money is in the system. Halifax have my money and lied to me and my family. If we'd ... Read the complete review

I’ve had an account with the Halifax since I was 13, when I joined a choir that paid me for singing with them. I didn't actually have a choice about which bank to put my money with - as far as my mum was concerned, it was her bank, it worked for her, so i was going with them. You can either apply the old fashioned way by going into a ... Read the complete review

::::Why did i go with Halifax?:::: Simple question with a simple answer. It was because of the range of features the 'Expresscash' account offered. Such as online banking and a debit card! These features attracted me the most, except the interest is the worst for teenagers accounts... But that doesn't matter as i save with Nationwide, ... Read the complete review

Be extremely careful with going over your overdraft limit. I had instructed the Halifax not to honour any transactions that took us over our overdraft limit. Due to circumstances we unwittingly went over our limit, the Halifax again honoured the transactions which were done with debit card. Before I realised we were over our limit the Halifax we ... Having been with the Halifax for over 15 years, I have now had more than enough. The charges of £39.00 every time you don't have quite enough in your bank, and the charges on top of the charges have hit me really hard over the last year, so I have now found "Another Way". During my 15 years, The Halifax was responsible for allowing my ... Read the complete review

My branch has now taken 4 months of my pension in the last 6 months in bank charges! I am paid my pension every 4 weeks and that pays all my bills by D/D and leaves enough to feed myself too. I've had an account with Halifax for 17 years, every month paying my salary into the account direct. Never went into overdraft. A standing order for £750 which I thought I'd cancelled online cleared my account on 31st October, sending my account overdrawn for 18 hours (until I noticed). Before I hastily arranged an overdraft on 1 November to £750 ... Read the complete review

I cannot imagine I am a high value customer to Halifax and my, how it shows in the way they treat me.
