Although I am not a big fan of banks and building societies, this one is worth a mention. The online services offered by hsbc.co.uk work very well... heck, they don't even complain that I am using an Apple Mac :-)

Logging into the personal account requires an IB number, which is issued when you register for the service. Then it is just a case of entering your date of birth and three digits from a PIN number (something that you get sent and then change to your own memorable number). Online you can view all of your recent transactions, make transfers, set up direct debits and standing orders (or cancel them) and a whole host of other services. It seems pretty well featured.

The business accounts are also accessible online. Slightly more secure, you put in a username, then password and a code that is generated by pressing a button on a little dongle with LCD display. They supply this to you when you register. The dongle generates a code, that only gains you access if used within a set period of time. Again, the things you can do online are much the same. What I find nice is transferring funds from my business account to personal is instant.

The online service works very well and save me tonnes of time.
