Disadvantages: None really - I suppose some people may be unsure of security (but I'm not you have security no etc)

I have been with HSBC for so many years and have to say they took their time catching up with the rest in respect of their use of the Internet.

I am a previous user of PC Banking where you actually dialled in to the Banks Server so it was not strictly on the internet. This service was OK but the main downside was that you were restricted to using it at home really.

However, now I'm using the new Internet Banking facility its great. I can check my balance and pay bills from any computer simply by visiting the internet site. I can also cancel things like direct debits online.

This was the most surprising thing to me. When I had a look at the current direct debits set up for my account there were so many!! A lot of them had not had any instalments paid for years yet they were still current so people could still collect from them if they wanted. I cancelled them straight away!!!

This is the main advantage of this new service, it lets you see exactly whats going on with your account in an instant and do something about it.
