Advantages: Offers a quick account and provides a debit card

Disadvantages: very strict about allowing loans or credit

A bank gives an idea of a place where money can be borrowed from and where money can be saved for investment without much risk. HSBC, from the viewpoint of an international student, doesn't meet those concepts very well. Firstly, you can't get loans from them because you are an international student. Secondly, their student's account doesn't provide you with almost any interest at all.

Yet, HSBC provides a valuable service to an international student by providing an account where s/he can bring and store money from his/her own country and reduces the risk of loosing money while abroad by providing a solo debit card. Although this card may not be accepted at many places including some railway stations (Loughborough to be specific), it provides a easy means to withdraw money from different places.

"The World's Local Bank" should do a little more for those who are trying hard to become the "locals of the world". I think there is much more to do on part of HSBC for an international student in UK at least.

Thank you for reading the review.

Summary: HSBC should improve its services for international students
