Advantages: Great big bank

Disadvantages: queues, unintelligible phone calls from overseas call centres, over-concerned with sales targets

HSBC may be one of the world's largest banks, but it is now so big that it has become as bureacratic as a (badly run) government department.
You can stand in a queue in one of their branches with just one of the five tills open and be ignored by visible backroom staff who joke and chat with each other.
There once used to be a culture at HSBC's predecessor, Midland Bank, whereby customer service was paramount, and where staff wouldn't have dreamed of taking breaks while there was a backlog of customers "out front".
Unfortunately such days are long gone.

Summary: HSBC - don't expect the personal touch any more!

HSBC overal customer experience is very lack luster to say the least, they have a high staff turn over and with that the customer retention level is also effected.

The staff that do stick around are so long in the tooth that they are as miserable as they look when handing over your cash.

Do yourself a favour, go to a new bank tell them what problems you have with your current bankers and ask what they have done to resolve these issues, if they meet your needs why complain on here, take action with your FEET....
