Advantages: free sweets

Disadvantages: no customer service, can't withdraw cash, no-one cares, red phones dialling to outer Mongolia

I have banked with HSBC for 10 years, the last 2 years have been horrendous. They have refused payments on my business card for small amounts under £100 although there are large sums in my a/c and my limit has not been reached - total embarassment.
Call centres in India are useless the staff often do not understand the problem. Staff in Uk indifferent and unhelpful, promise to call back re: services and products I am still waiting. No supervision of staff, no-one to complain to.
Customers can't withdraw money over the counter and their machines are often out of order. However, you can have a free sweet from jar on the counter. This shows what they think of customers. Counter service reduced to one till in major towns, closes at 3.30 and no Saturday service. If you have a problem you are directed to a red phone where some anonymous person fobs you off.
Branches have been refurbished to look like amusement arcades full of machines. My impression HSBC wants your money, has a cash flow problem and doesn't really want you to withdraw cash. They only want to make loans at high charges. Staff disinterested because they are about to be replaced by a machine.
I've switched my account free sweets don't make up for all the frustration and damage to my business!!

Summary: If you want to borrow money and then declare yourself bankrupt this is the bank for you.

Haven't had any problems with HSBC at all during my time, I would describe unfair at being labelled the most frustrating bank but then again I haven't had any serious problem to compare it with.

I've banked with HSBC for 20 years and have never had a problem, unlike with other banks. Sorry to hear you have. Melony

You've just described most of the banks in England! :-)
