The best bank on the Highstreet (HSBC)

HSBC otherwise known as the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corparation is probably the largest and most internationally wide spread bank on the UK high street, but to start with is a good reason to trust them with your money - it's very safe relative to the more domestic UK banks and this was proven this year where other UK banks were given money by the government to help them survive the current economic crisis, but HSBC did not require such government assistance.

There are HSBC branches in practically every town and city and plenty of ATMs too, it may be one of the most widespread banks and ofen the entrance porch is open till sill hours, when the paying in machines can be used, so you do not have to wait for the limited number of hours when the desks are manned by cashiers to pay money in.

I have found HSBC staff in general to be exceptionally polite, both in branch, but also in the call centres that are located both in the UK and abroad. HSBC security is second to none, especially over the telephone, where even the smallest unknown detail will mean you have to call back when you find out!

Internet banking with HSBC is fantastic too, the system logs you out quickly if you are inactive and also deletes codes left accidentally in the website bars. The Internet banking interface is easy to navigate and payments can be made swifty and easily.

Great bank, I will be keeping my money with HSBC for a long time into the future!
