I have a basic bank account with HSBC which i set up through there web site around 12 months ago now, it was very easy to do and all i had to do was input my details, name adress, dob and my income each month, they sent me an email streight away saying i had been accepted and my card was in the post.

It took about 5 days for my card to arrive shortly followed by my pin, the account is great for having my wages paid into and my direct debits taken out from, there is no debit card with this account which is a real shame but should be able to upgrade to a account with this feature shortly.

I have never had a problem with money going in or out of my account, cheques clear in 3 working days which is great and i have 24 hour access to my money at cash machines.

Summary: a great service
