Advantages: Great service

Disadvantages: a bit too much selling

We bank with HSBC for most of our financial needs and on the whole have been more than satisfied with the service provided. There are ups and downs with every bank on the high street at the moment and I will endeavour to be frank with my report on HSBC to give you the clearest view of them.
Our local branch is relatively small although well manned and usually has two tellers working alongside a manned customer service desk. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable and in my experience have been willing to go the extra mile whn necessary. The branch also has facility to pay in, obtain statements and withdraw cash through the machines so you very rarely have to queue for long.
The only downside I have experienced with my local branch is that they are clearly under pressure to try and sell you extras - you know the premium account with a fee, the savings account, travel insurance etc etc but i guess this is a sign of the times and shows the pressure that staff are under to meet their targets.
The telephone banking service is excellent and I have always managed to resolve my enquiry quickly and easily when I have had need to telephone them.
