I was a customer of this bank up until 2 months ago.NEVER will I be returning....
Recently I paid a cheque into my account, for a fair amount of money, everything was fine, until I accessed my online account, to discover that it had been closed. So where had my cheque gone, and why had my account been closed.
No major problem I thought, this is obviously a genuine mistake. I rang the company to enquire about my account, to only be told that they would investigate the matter, and get back to me.No way I thought... I'm missing a cheque here. I went into the bank the following morning, oh yes, they were very helpful. Apparently my cheque was lost in their system somewhere, and yes it was correct that my account had been closed. However they could not understand why I had not been informed of this.
The reason you may ask, that they closed my account.... Well it had been inactive for a few months. Hardly surprising as I was self employed and on maternity leave.
The outcome....
Well they found my cheque, wrote out a new one for me, then sent me on my merry way. No apologies and still no account.
I have since discovered that apparently they are not allowed to close an account, without the customers knowledge, however this would appear to not apply, as in my opinion they are certainly a law unto themselves.
