Advantages: Easy, Friendly staff, Good range of services

Disadvantages: None

I recently opened an account with HSBC and i would seriously recommend them. I got in the bank all ready with my pasport and address proof and i didnt even have to wait. Someone was there ready to talk to me and discuss my options. Everyone is so friendly in there and not just the person who i spoke to about opening my account. I explained to her that i wanted to change which account my wages went into. She typed into the computer a few bits, filled out a form and got me to sign it. Everything was done, I couldn't believe how quick it was. From past experiences, I would often have to wait to talk to someone, then they would go on and on about a whole bunch of irrelevant stuff and it would take ages to sort out. But she also asked if i wanted to open an instant access savings account. It was the best thing i have done. I asked to put £20 in every month from what i got paid and i dont even realise that it gets put in there. I totally forget that it is there and it's good to have for a rainy day. It is also the place to go to get your debit card. I wanted a switch card and you only need to have £300 deposited into your account every month in order to recieve it and it also acts as a cheque guarrantee. I was so impressed at how everything was handled and it's very easy to pay the money in. I am going on holiday soon and I have bought my travel insurance from HSBC and again it was quick and easy and quite cheap as well.
HSBC also offer many other services including advice on starting your own business and travelling. I haven't been able to use these yet but I know that if i do, it will be so convenient to use. There is excellent service in all the HSBC's that I have use in my area. If you are thinking of opening an account, HSBC is the place to be.

UPDATE:
I wanted to add that I have just got the new 8% regular savers account and it's fantastic. It hardly took any time to set up and it's 8%!!!! You can save up to a maximum of £250 a month and you can change how much you put in every month so if you think that you are going to be a bit short of cash, then you can reduce the amount that gets transfered out.
The only conditions are that you have a main HSBC bank account and your monthly wage goes into it. So for all you people who are HSBC customers already, it's perfect. I would advice people to try and fill up your ISA first because it's only a gradual thing, i.e. you can't put lump sums in at a time.

Hi there... its nice to see you have come back to writing on site.

As a small suggestion... could you use shorter paragraphs in your opinions. It makes them easier to read and opinions that are easy on the eye tend to generate more reads :-)
