by 60 days to close an account with ING - written on 02/09/08

Be Very careful with ING! THEY decided to close my account b/c I opened an account for my 10 yr-old niece (who isn't a registered user on my checking account). They didn't like that and closed it and said "we could no longer have a financial relationship." I was Very surprised by this & have been Waiting and Waiting to receive my funds. After a month, I called. They said they have 60 days to close your account!!
Be careful, if you think you will Need your money, you could be in for a surprise!
I am discouraging Everyone I know from doing business with them. I don't think this will be a very successful with Americans as we are accustomed to Customer Services, at least to some degree.

One of the easiest bank accounts I have ever had. The interest rates on ING are not as good as they used to be. They offer attractive rates for new customers (6% last time I looked) and give existing customers less (4.75% after you have been with them 12 months). Because of this I tried to open an IceSave account. See my ...

ING is a Dutch bank offering very competitive saving rate of 6%. The bank was formed 10 years ago and since has become the leading provider of savings account in the world with more than 20 million customers. In UK it has one million customers. ING really does offer a very attractive product in savings. Open a saving account with as ...

ING were not only one of the first but they were always one of the better online account providers. Dutch owned they have been trading in the UK for just over four years and about a year ago they reached the 1 million customer mark which is no mean feat in the very traditional and slow moving UK banking world especially given that they do not have ...

I joined ING Direct with the aim of creating an account online that I I could transfer money electronically into from my current account with HSBC. My current account pays hardly any interest at all! Most don't, some do. I choose ING Direct because of the advertising and no hassle approach and because of the competitive interest rate ...

The recently increased rate to 4.75% has meant that the ING direct account is much more competitive. Very easy to start and transfer money, the account can have several 'sub-accounts' (to split money up for various savings). To begin, you need to log on and then send a check from your normal account. This will allow you to then ...

Turn Pence into Pounds like Magic Personally, I'm a lazy saver - Although I'm not a particularly great business woman, I do like my pounds to earn a bit when I'm not looking. I have to admit, ING takes care of several pence while you look after the pounds (or perhaps I've mixed up that metaphor…..) ING offers perhaps ...

I like to think that I'm good with my money. I manage to save a reasonable amount by using an ISA which I top up with the maximum amount each April from my savings account. Any extra money each month finds itself quickly moved into my savings account. But was I getting the best I could from my savings? The answer was no, not really. I ...

Disclaimer: This review reads like a comparison between ING and Virtual Bank. I've tried focusing on ING, but have left pertinent information regarding Virtual Bank for clarity. Bank Credibility ING Direct is backed by Dutch-based ING, and has been operating in the United States for over 100 years. Virtual Bank is the ...

Like many savers I am not always on the ball when it comes to checking that I am getting the highest interest rate possible on my hard earned cash. A few months ago I decided that I really needed to look at my finances to make sure I was getting the best deal on my savings. I wanted a savings account that would pay a high rate of interest, but I ...

In many ways my bank is progressive and helpful. I can order euro's and get them within a couple of days. ( When I worked at the bank many many years ago, in fact when we were still using manual typewriters, we had a 'foreign department' which had a supply of different currencies or could get what you need within a couple of days!) I find ...

After a relentless marketing campaign for the last 6 months or so I finally gave in and opened an ING Direct Savings account. I am a terrible at saving money, preferring to live for today and worry about paying for tomorrow when it gets here. The only way I have managed to do it previously was to have a book based account where I had to go into ...

This was a simple decision. This bank offers great interest rates (I've made more in a month that I was making all year!) Try it out - I can send you a referral link if you email me at jenniferbb@bellsouth.net that will get you a $25 bonus for opening the account. It's also great for budgeting, you can set up multiple ...

OK, It's not a savings product in a tin! But let's face it, savings and ISA's are a minefield. ING have very prominent advertising in the UK press and prime-time terrestial television. They put forward a very solid argument: "It's your money we're saving". Closer study reveals that there are no apparent catches, the ...

If you?re young and are earning then let?s face it there?s not a great deal you can do with your money at the moment. At the moment there are loads of banks and ...

I was always rather dubious of internet banking. For some reason it just seemed a rather iffy proposition. I didn?t feel entirely safe. Then, whilst looking for a place to store my pennies (hopefully to build a deposit for a mortgage - but I live in London, so? weep!) I was recommended ING Direct by a friend and so thought I?d look into it, ...
