Advantages: Some!

Disadvantages: Many!

I am a former Lloyds TSB manager - I retired several years ago but I maintain a current account into which my pension is paid. I try to avoid contact with my local branch due to the absolute inability of its staff to comprehend the meaning of customer service. They have no understanding of the phrase "the customer is always right"! I maintain minimal balances in my account.

The bad service "regime" coincided with the merger with the Trustee Savings Banks - their managers took over the general management of the combined banks' domestic branches and the standard of service plummetted almost immediately. The bad service has persisted since - everybody seems to be a "Manager" i.e. lots of captains but no able seamen!

My advice is to establish your accounts at Nationwide or Yorkshire Building Societies - their service is excellent.

If you ever have a complaint about the service of Lloyds TSB Bank plc do not hesitate in writing to the Chairman or the Chief Executive - find out their names. Your complaint will be acknowledged and dealt with promptly

Summary: Don't despair!
