Advantages: sometimes offer good interest rates on savings accounts

Disadvantages: lots

I have had an account with the local branch of TSB since I was two years old. I never thought about changing banks, partly because of all the direct debits and payment going in, until recently.; I have had nothing but trouble with them the past few months. They constantly try selling me things such as upgrades to my account, mobile banking, car insurance, loans and the list goes on! They e-mail me, ring me, write to me, and ask me to go to the branch, it's relentless! I have two current loans with them at the moment and decided to consolidate them into one loan to make monthly payments more affordable. They kept me on hold for over ten minutes during the phone call I had to make to them to get the loan accepted. They asked me to call back the next day as the person who dealt with the loans was on his dinner! I phoned back as instructed and was on the phone being passed from department to department for over an hour, eventually I reached the correct person after discussing my entire life with goodness knows who, only for him to say I wasn't I viable lending option, hum. I asked why that was I he said he wasn't convinced I could meet the monthly repayments. I then pointed out to him the payments would indeed be lower than I am currently paying and he then said to ring back in 2 months? I have been paying the current loan amounts for two years and never missed a payment. He then proceeded to try to sell me payment protection on the current loans and offer me an upgrade of current account, all of which cost ridiculous amounts of money, which I apparently may not be able to repay? So needless to say I am now in the process of opening a new account with a branch that see me as a person not just an easy way to make money.

Summary: Don't bother

I do get tired of banks continually trying to sell me things, especially when the queues in the branches are always horrendous.
