Advantages: Ease of use.

Disadvantages: Laborious account opening process.

I recently opened a new current account with Lloyds TSB using the online facilities. I still had to go into the bank to complete the process which in my mind defeated the point of the online option. Nevertheless, the lady in the branch was extremely helpful and offered me a number of financial products that she believed would help me but in a way that was not pressurising. I purchased contents insurance for the flat I recently moved into and also an anti-fraud product which also allows me access to my credit file whenever I want.

The internet banking site is a pleasure to use and is clear, quick and informative and allows me to apply for credit cards, loans and permits me to purchase various insurance products.

There are many branches local to me, and all seem to be clean, have helpful staff and most importantly, short queues.

All in all, a very well run outfit.

Summary: Once you're signed up, it's great.
