Advantages: clean branches

Disadvantages: Poor service, Not competitive enough

I was with Lloyds TSB since I did work placement with then at school which was about 8/9 years ago now. Then the bank (TSB before the merger)was one of the best banks about to be with, they always helped and went out their way to keep people happy, but since they have merged with Lloyds bank, the whole startegy in which they work to has changed. It seems to be that they only concern about figures and meeting targets. It seems to me that they are more interested in getting money off people and then to get rid of them as quick as possible.

They closed the local Lloyds bank which only left one bank of TSB in Arnold (Nottingham). Nowadays, out of six counters, only half has the tendancy of being used. Other times, it is slightly more. I have not seen all counters being used for a long time now, yet they cannot understand why there is always a queue out the door and the everage time of wiating is 20 mins. This is too long in all accounts.

I put up with this for a couple of years, and then I received my interest on my account. I only recived two pence for the year, and on average I had about £700 in my account per month. I found this very bad. I then got a letter saying that I was overdrawn in my account, and I had been charged £22.50 for no reason in which I was charged for and could not appeal against it. Then I got a letter for going over on my credit card which was also incorrect, and another situation was paying all my credit card off and still getting charged interest. How does that work out?

After numerious problems I stoped all money going into and out of my account and went to another bank in which are very friendly, you get individual attention, on average five pence per month interest, and I got a £50 bonus into my account for high regular payments into the account. At present, this bank is offering the same offer. this is Alliance and Leicester PLC.

As I had now change to another bank, Lloyds TSB got concerned with the sud
den drop of income from my account so they asked me to come into the branch in with I did. They asked me all sorts of question for the yearly review on the banks performance. Due to this, I told them in what I thought and compared it to the new bank I was with. Lloyds TSB were not happy with loosing me, but then said they cannot be as competitive as other banks, and that if I wanted to leave, I could do. I did there and then. After cancelling everything with them, I still get credit card statements and new credit cards from them and I have not been with that bank now for about 2½ years. I do not reccommend Lloyds TSB like I would have done 9 years ago.

We're with Alliance & Leicester and are also pleased with them. Never any problem - I wish they'd "forget" to enter some of our credit card items, though. Every month we check our statement, and every month, every single transaction is there!
