Disadvantages: Poor customer relations

I have been a member of Lloyds bank since 1976. I have remained loyal. Not once has it entered my head to change banks until recently. When Lloyds merged with TSB I ceased to become a customer and became just another statistic on their books. The branch at Bury, Lancashire that I was a familiar figure in closed down and moved to the TSB offices. For years the Lloyds staff had greeted me with a ‘Good morning’. Now all I get is and automated voice telling me that cashier number 3 is vacant. The word vacant is apt. I used to be able to telephone my local branch and speak to a familiar voice. Now I telephone a call centre and speak to a faceless call taker who puts me on hold for 5 minutes at 4.5p per minute.
Are all banks the same or has Lloyds bank lost the plot.
It appears to me that all Lloyds bank are interested in now is selling their services. Perhaps I am old fashioned but if this is their idea of progress they can keep it. If I am not going to get the friendly service I used to get then I might as well join one of the Internet banks. At least I will get the financial benefits.

My experience with Lloyds TSB was when it was just Lloyds. As a child in the mid-seventies, I opened an account becuse they gave you that black horse money box, which was really cool. Unfortunately I never got much pocket-money, becuse we didn't have a lot of spare cash in my family. Imagine how I felt whn the manager of my branch wrote me a snotty letter (I was about 7 or 8) telling me he was closing my account because I had not made a deposit for several months, and I didn't have much money in my account. As you can see, the words "customer" and "service" don't seem to be in the Lloyds dictionary now or in the past.
