Nationwide's current account offers a good value alternative to those provided by the banks. As a previous customer of the Abbey National I was sick of paying charges for everything and anything. It was relatively easy to transfer over the only diificulty was obtaining mandates for all my standing orders - for this you have to rely on the cooperation of your old bank. Other than that no problem, you can even be told what your credit limit would be if you took a credit card with them. Otherwise there are pratically no charges, as long as you don't misuse your account and you can even withdraw from cash machines abroad with no extra cost.

Summary:
