Advantages: great customer service
Disadvantages: not in my local village

Nationwide is a well known bank in the UK. It has an outlet in nearly every town across the country.
Incentives
-------------
Not much at the moment but then again not many banks are offering good deals for borrowers or savers due to the credit crunch. Isas are probably the best bet at the mo.
In Branch
------------
I have alway been happy with the customer service at Nationwide. When i needed a large amount of money quickly for a house purchase they did their best to accommodate me. This, i feel, went beyond what a normal bank would do.
Online
--------
I also bank online which is really handy. The network is rarely down for maintence which is great. Security also seems pretty tight which is reassuring. You can do most banking activities online saving you having to go to the branch.
On the phone
-----------------
Calls are generally answered pretty quickly. You have to call to get a replacement card/cheque book etc. This isnt a problem and your issue is dealt with professionally and quickly - cards arive around 5 days after ordering.
Overall
---------
I have banked with Nationwide for over 20 years and am more than happy. I have had to open an account with another bank but that is only because Nationwide doesnt has an outlet in my local village and i would have to go ino town to put in cheques. I would recommend Nationwide to anyone looking for great customer service.
