I have been a member of the Nationwide since I was a youngster (parents had my savings account with them) and so it was a natural progression to stay with them. I had my 'smart' account with them for my teenage years and then I moved onto their 'flex account' which is the debit card account.

Nationwide is the biggest building society in the world. You can get packages from them directly or go to your local branch (around 600 branches can be found in the UK) In 2007 the Natiionwide merged with the Portman building society which created assest worth more than £160 billion.

Nationwide offers a range of different packages such as morgages, Insurance and commercial lending. The website for the Nationwide can be found under www.natiowide.co.uk and this enables members to use the internet banking facility, which is growing ever more popular.

As mentioned aboove, since the merger of Nationwide and the Portman I have been disappointed in the 'over the counter' service. I have to queue everytime I go into the branch and there is never an apology fro keeping me waiting, I am offered the use of the machine which allows me to make transactions but this is in full view of the waiting queue

I think it would be alot of hasstle to move building societys/banks but customer satisfaction does mean alot so I think attitude does need to be looked at within the branches.

Summary: Nationwide, worlds biggest building society, offers range of services
