Advantages: Quick and easy to set up, easy to check transactions online, ability to transfer money, etc.

Disadvantages: None that I can think of.

Nationwide.co.uk is the online banking address for the Building Society Nationwide.

I have had an account with Nationwide for a while. I chose them because I liked the fact that they let you take out money charge free in other countries and I had heard good things about them from other custimers. I had always had accounts with banks before (except an Abbey account a while ago) and I thought that I might get better serviuce from a building society. Anyway, I had nothing to lose so I opened the account.

The application for an account was quick and easy, and I was offered the chance to set up an online bank account. I was hesitant; I had heard all sorts of things about online security and I didn't really like the idea of accessing my account online. However, the lady assured me that it was quick and easy to set up the online account and that I didn't have to use it.

She was right- it was quick and easy. I had to choose two memorable words for security and one date, also for security. That was it, as far as I can remember.

I got the pass number and the pin code in the post, and I thought I would give it a try. I'm so glad I did!

The online account is quick and easy to get into. Once in, I can see my balance, and my most recent transactions, in either a brief form (which tells you how much money has gone in and out and what type of transation it was) or in a more detailed form (which tells you where the money went, or came from).

You can also transfer money between different online accounts, or transfer money to another company, i.e. pay them online. It is all very straightforward and easy and if you like the sound of it then I encourage you to give it a try,. I feel a lot more on top of my finances when I can access the internet and check on my account.

If you ever forget one of your three items of memorable data, then you just fill in the online form on the website, to register for online banking. That takes about five minutes. Then you get the new details sent to you and you can use it again. I have had to do this and the new details took about five working days to arrive.

I like using online banking because as I said, I feel a lot more on top of my finances. I like being able to check what's going in and coming out on a daily basis, without having to go to the cashpoint to get a statement.

I also like the fact that online banking is paper free and therefore helps the environment (althought I could say that the electricity used by the computer does not, but I dohn't have to drive to the town, and so on- I think it helps!)

Overall I recommend Nationwide.co.uk.

Summary: I recommend online banking with Nationwide.co.uk.

Useful review. I keep saying I'll do it and putting it off.
