Advantages: Good online service
Disadvantages: can be slow to set up
I have had no real problems with Natwest, I have been using them for several years now. When i first set up my account with them (in this case it was for a debit card)they required 2 forms of ID. This wasn't a problem as i had my passport and a photo id card (at this time i wasn't old enough to drive).
This took about a week before I received my card and pin in the post. This in my opinion is as good as any bank. I once had a problem when trying to draw out money through an ATM machine. I requested £50 but got nothing, however my account was still credited with the money. Had i used a Natwest ATM machine I could have disputed it and got the money back the same day I later learned. However it was a CO-Op machine. I therefore had to go to a Natwest branch and seak to an advisor there, I told him the details of what had happened and he filled out a ATM dispute form. I was grateful to see that a couple of weeks later the money was returned to my account.
People should be made aware of my mistake here, just be aware of using ATM mahcines from other banks because it can take a lot longer to get your money back. If I used a Nationwide bank card with a Natwest ATM machine I guess it would have taken just as long to get the money back.
I had had my account for a few years when i decided i'd like to use their online facility. This is a simple process where you fill in the details online. However, i was disapointed with the service here because it took months to get them to set it up. It was over a month after i had sent my details that i got a phonecall from Natwest as a security procedure. Here I confirmed with them my password for online banking.
It wasn't long after this that it was set up. Online banking is very easy to use, I'd recommend it to anybody. You can make payments to other people online easily, as well as checking balances etc. When you are logged in it shows all your accounts you have with them, in my case I now have a Credit card and an E-savings account with them.
I'd recomend Natwest, as the service is generally good, but they need to improve with their service when it comes to setting up an online account with them as this was very slow.
Summary: Good Service, easy to use
